Lily Yu's Story

When you know Lily, you know our values. 

Lily Yu has a lot going on. And that’s exactly the way she likes it. In fact, it would seem that it’s always been that way.

“My Mom was from Hong Kong; my Dad was from Shanghai. They were both entrepreneurs and I was raised in a strict, hardworking family,” says Lily. Though school was a high priority, she was also enrolled in art classes, piano lessons, dance and gymnastics.

Despite all those artistic endeavors, the passion for business influenced her career path. Lily studied commerce in university and got her masters in finance. After a start in wealth management, she joined a boutique investment bank in Toronto, where she got a taste for the capital markets. “It was a small firm, so I had to wear many hats,“ says Lily. “I learned a lot and really started to love the industry.”

Those efforts got noticed. Before long, she was recruited by Canaccord Genuity.

As Director, Equity Capital Markets in the Toronto office, Lily works with global partners on everything from equity issuances to capital raises. And, she feels right at home. “I love the opportunity for growth here, the team atmosphere,” she pauses, “and I love how the culture is fun. It’s important to love what you do.”

Lily does. And that extends to her personal life. With a young family at home, there’s always lots going on there too. Add to that her passion for travel, trying new restaurants and “love for all things design”, as she describes it, and you can see why Lily thrives in a dynamic, variety-filled environment.

When you combine Lily’s love for growth and being part of a team, along with her positive, optimistic attitude, it’s not hard to imagine a bright future for this extraordinary young woman.
