Darrell Thompson

Darrell is a Senior Investment Advisor with 29 years of experience for his Canadian and non-US resident clients with Canaccord Genuity Corp, as well as being a FINRA-licensed Registered Representative via Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management (USA) Inc, so as to deal with US resident clients as well. These dual registrations allow him to be able to manage money for clients who retain significant assets in each jurisdiction as well as stewarding complex cross border transactions, whereby registration (and experience) on both sides of the border is required.

Darrell is an American, born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. After studying Finance at the University of Iowa, he began his career at Piper Jaffray and Hopwood in 1989. He moved his practice to Canada in 1993 and joined Canaccord Genuity Corp in 2013.  Along the way – on the Canadian side of the border – he has completed the courses such as the Canadian Securities Course, CPH, and Options Licensing and holds the CIM designation. On the US side he holds Series 3 (Commodities and Options), Series 7 (General Securities), Series 63 (State Registration) and Series 65 (Uniform Investment Advisor Law Exam).

Darrell has that combination of registrations, knowledge and experience to be able to advise accounts/clients who potentially can straddle both sides of the border.
