Katie Lachapelle's Story

The best examples of our values are the people who work here.
Talk to Katie and you’ll quickly understand there’s something unique and special about her.
Born and raised in beautiful Collingwood, Ontario, Katie went to McGill University, studying Finance and Accounting. “I love numbers,” she says. “I guess I was always a bit of nerd that way.” But that love of numbers, combined with a passion for success and a relentlessly positive attitude, has taken Katie pretty far in her young career. After working at PwC Canada, Katie landed a position with Canaccord Genuity, where she was promoted to an Analyst not long after joining the firm.
Metals and Mining, particularly battery materials and uranium, are Katie’s area of specialty. In fact, she played a major role in building up the uranium sector coverage at CG as part of her area of focus. What’s particularly interesting about this is that her father and grandfather both worked in mining in the nickel region of Northern Ontario.
Katie loves the financial industry, and especially the CG environment. “It’s collaborative. It’s inclusive. And at the same time, it’s very competitive. I like that.”
While she’s passionate about her role, it’s not all work all the time for Katie. In addition to skiing, tennis and volleyball, she has always loved music, especially live music. “I love live shows at smaller venues,” says Katie, “and I also have a pretty extensive record collection.”
It might be the mining. It might be the music. Or it might be her easy smile, quick mind, energy and positive attitude that fills the room around her that make Katie so special. Whatever it is, we’re thrilled she’s part of our CG team.
When you know Katie, you know our values.
