Jason Melbourne was appointed Head of CG Capital Markets – Canada in June 2023 with responsibility for leading the business into its next phase of growth. He has held the role of Global Head of Distribution since October 2020 to lead the expansion of Canaccord Genuity’s best practices in deal origination and securities placement across our global platform.
Jason began his career in 1997 and developed expertise in investment banking before transitioning to institutional sales. From 2001 to 2005, he was Director of Institutional Sales and Trading at CIBC World Markets and went on to become Principal, Sales & Trading for Genuity Capital Markets.
Since joining the Company with the merger of Canaccord and Genuity in 2010, Jason has played an integral role in building the Canadian institutional sales desk. In 2016, he was promoted to Global Head of Canadian Equity Sales and has fostered a team-based performance culture that has extended to improving cross-border and cross-desk collaboration, driving stronger outcomes for clients across CG’s geographies.
Outside of Canaccord Genuity, Jason serves on the Board of Governors at Huron University and is an Independent Director for Restaurant Brands International. He also serves on the Board of Directors at Lay-Up, a youth basketball foundation that strives to empower youths with the confidence and life skills to become the community leaders of tomorrow.
