Analyst, Marketing Analytics - Investment Banking Division

Canaccord Genuity seeks to hire entrepreneurial, team-oriented, self-motivated, and driven professionals to join our Investment Banking Department. We are seeking an Analyst to join our Marketing Analytics team, which operates within our Investment Banking department. Ideally this role will be located in Boston, with the potential for New York City.

Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain and build a proprietary database of industry transactions through data analysis
  • Provide data-based analysis and insights to prepare recurring and ad-hoc reports, graphs, and metrics
  • Prepare industry-focused, transaction-based graphics and marketing materials that can be leveraged for marketing collateral, pitchbooks, etc.
  • Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve processes, increase data integrity, and provide quality support for the Investment Banking teams
Desired Skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Resourceful self-starter; able to work autonomously
  • Demonstrated team player
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree or equivalent years of relevant experience

Overview

We are seeking an Equity Research Associate to join our Internet research team, which is led by two senior analysts with over 45 years of combined research experience. The team works hard, takes great pride in doing thoughtful work on behalf of our clients, and has a strong track record of developing associates for career advancement. This role will include work on Internet companies like Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Netflix, Uber, Spotify, Zillow, Etsy, Wayfair, etc.

This position will be based in midtown Manhattan on a hybrid schedule (WFH Mondays & Fridays).

Essential Job Functions
  1. Fundamental research: The associate will be expected to track coverage of company product updates, strategies, catalysts, and competitors, as well as relevant Internet industry events and trends. He/she will constantly be collecting and considering data points – blogs, podcasts, trade journals, etc. will all contribute to the mosaic of information that the team assembles. The candidate will have a thorough and rigorous analytical process and be comfortable with the distillation of large volumes of information.
  2. Modeling and writing: The associate will be responsible for summarizing key news items and earnings calls, and for fully and independently updating the models. Longer-term projects will include preparation of launch reports, including a large portion of the analysis and model build out.
  3. Communication: Upon passing the regulatory tests (Series 7, 63, 86/87), the associate will be expected to communicate key aspects of our companies under research to our salesforce and clients.
Required Qualifications
  • Passionate about stocks and the financial markets.
  • Four-year bachelor's degree, advanced degrees will be considered.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Superior quantitative, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, proactive, and highly self-motivated, organized, and responsive.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and be extraordinarily detail oriented.
Preferred Qualifications (Not required)
  • One to two years' experience in equity research, investment banking, or finance, although we encourage qualified candidates with other backgrounds to apply.
  • Series 7, 63, 86, 87 will be required soon after starting the position, but are not prerequisites for consideration.
  • Completion of or progress towards a CFA is a plus, but not required.
