I am a Yorkshireman by birth and have practical experience of share ownership dating back to 'old money'.

Following the sale of our family engineering business in 1978 I moved to Guernsey but spent some time in Florida in the offices of Merrill Lynch and Prudential-Bache trading US stocks.

I joined the company In 1993 (then Greig Middleton) in the portfolio management team. Over the years I have been a member of the Operating Committee of Genesis Asset Managers LLP and a non-executive director of several Emerging Market investment Funds. My current role involves the management of private client discretionary portfolios and membership of UK and International stock selection committees. I am also a Chartered Member of the Securities Institute.

A bit about me:

From an early age, I've loved playing sport, particularly golf, cricket, hockey, rugby and squash. I prefer being outdoors but if it rains, I'm an enthusiastic and curious reader.

What does can-do mean to me:

You could call it an ethos, an approach, or an ideology. We simply call it can-do.

My can-do attitude relates to passing exams when you are beyond your perceived sell by date.
